Charleston Real Estate Market Update

The real estate market in Charleston is booming louder than a Boeing Dreamliner. Prices are moving up quickly. While our median prices have been stuck under $200k for a few years now, this past week saw 185 single family homes go under contract with a median price of $260k and $138/sqft. These are by far the largest numbers we’ve seen in some time. We will probably sell 20% more properties than last year. I still think that 2006 home buyers will be able to sell by the end of this year. They have been anywhere from 20-30% underwater since 2008. They’ll be even soon. We should see a lot of appreciation over the next 2 years. And the government will not raise interest rates significantly until they see more of the rest of the country join the rebound.
